It is my vision that Fish on Toast will not only be the most interesting and original society in Southampton, but will be undoubtedly classed as the best entrepreneurial society in the whole country. Fish on Toast will be home to amazing speaking events and competitions as well as unbelievable opportunities. By increasing the number of members and sponsorship money, we as a committee, will make Fish on Toast the best society. We will provide more socials, better food and improved events. If something needs to be done, do it right... don't quack like a duck, soar like an eagle.
I aim to ensure Fish on Toast brings us all fun, inspiration, guidance, opportunities, and most importantly...free food! I envision us becoming the largest entrepreneurship society in the UK, and want to provide the best guest speakers which will give us a real-life, hands-on perspective of entrepreneurship. Whether you are studying entrepreneurship or simply have an interest I want to get everyone more involved through competitions, activities and socials. I aim to ensure that each of you feel part of the community of Fish on Toast, and that this society adds unbounded value to your degree, and ultimately your life.
I would like to build on the fantastic work of James and the committee with a number of focuses for the next year.
Firstly, I want to improve the society's links with start-up businesses to create exclusive internship and graduate opportunities for FOT members.
Secondly, I would like to continue building our sponsorship base, specifically targeting companies that can provide the most useful services for our members.
Thirdly, I want to provide the best and most talked about events, to ensure Fish on Toast's members become the most in-demand entrepreneurial students in the country!
Fish on Toast has changed my perspectives and ambitions and introduced me to amazing people. It has become something I'm truly passionate about.
The society has an excellent reputation. I would build on this by bringing the unique FOT experience to more members than ever; investing in more innovative events and opportunities for members to get involved.
I envisage FOT as a society that continually pushes the limits and responds to its members needs. I want to create a society that it not only the best now, but also for years to come.
I enjoyed being involved in FOT and hopefully to make my own contribution to develop it into the best student society in the country.
I aim to bring more links with local businesses so that members can benefit from practical enterprise knowledge and experiences. I also hope to find amazing guest speakers from a wide range of background to cover a selection of events including finance, marketing, business skills and lots more.
Finally, I would ensure the food would be amazing as it always is and hopefully more variety for the thoughtful entrepreneurs with a hunger to success!
The 2009/10 FOT committee has worked tooth and nail to get the society in the position it is in now. However it is not enough and could be better. By a mix background of relevant knowledge and experience, and also enthusiasm, I will try to address the current weaknesses in order to improve the atmosphere and productivity of the FOT. In this regard, diversifying and expanding the scope of FOT activities is one of my aims. We should also make FOT more pragmatic so that our members gain a sensible flavour of how they could become an entrepreneur in practice.
I would like to promote the welfare of the existing members by ensuring good communication between the members and the committee, because it is eventually all about you.
I want to introduce a new kind of event, which would involve FOT member discussions. (You never know, your future business partner might be sitting right next to you!)
I am honoured to be a member of such an exceptional society as FOT and I want to bring it closer to everybody by organising FOT awareness days.
Take control of that cash and make sure we keep generating it!
